Students could hardly wait for Peter Catalanotto to speak with them after reading his books for most of September and October. They were all well prepared for his visit and knew many of the books he shared with. Students left the library with incredible tips on writing and illustrating. These gems of information will surely be used in the classroom and in their own personal righting journey. Some tips included things like, "Stories begin after asking the question, 'what if...?'" "Don't worry about spelling, just get writing." "A story is a character who wants something." And "Come up with ideas first, think about details later."
